De Tiger II (latere benaming van de Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausf. B; Sd.Kfz. 182) was een zware Duitse tank die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog werd ingezet, onder meer tijdens het Ardennenoffensief. Hij werd ook wel Königstiger genoemd, wat Duits is voor Bengaalse tijger. Bij de geallieerden stond hij foutief bekend als de King Tiger.
Dit gevechtsvoertuig was de opvolger van de Tiger I en woog 69 ton. Het was de zwaarste tank die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog door de Duitsers werd ingezet, op de Jagdtiger na. De tank had voor op de koepel een pantsering van 185mm en was uitgerust met het 88mm KwK 43 L/71 kanon. Dit kanon was een van de sterkste kanonnen uit de Tweede Wereldoorlog en kon het frontpantser van de meeste geallieerde tanks (zoals de T-34 en de M4 Sherman) tot een afstand van 1500 meter doorboren. Het bereik van het kanon was tien kilometer. De tank werd aangedreven door de 12 cilinder HL 230 PB30 Maybach-motor van 700 pk, waarmee ook de lichtere Panther was uitgerust.
Een Panzerkampfwagen IV, afgekort PzKpfw IV, ook bekend als de Panzer IV, is een tank die tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog door Duitsland werd ingezet.
Er werden ruim 8500 exemplaren gebouwd en alleen al door dit relatief grote[bron?] aantal was ze belangrijker voor de Duitse oorlogsinspanning dan betere Duitse tanks zoals de Panther, de Tiger I en Tiger II. Aan het Oostfront was ze in sommige opzichten verouderd ten opzichte van de T-34.
